Individualised exercise support

When exercise physiology may be suitable

Exercise physiology can support a range of health and functional goals. Suitability, exercise selection and progressions depend on your assessment, medical needs and any guidance from your treating team.

Long-term health conditions

Appropriately prescribed exercise may support the management of conditions such as diabetes, cardiovascular disease and persistent pain as part of a wider care plan.

Strength and mobility

Progressive exercise can target strength, balance, mobility and confidence with everyday movement.

Injury and recovery

A graded program may help rebuild capacity after injury, surgery or time away from usual activity, subject to clinical guidance.

Disability and NDIS goals

Exercise can be linked to functional capacity, independence and participation goals where it is appropriate and funded in your plan.

Reduced fitness or deconditioning

A structured starting point can help you return to activity gradually when fitness or confidence has declined.

Healthy ageing and falls risk

Strength, balance and functional exercise may support safer movement and continued participation in daily activities.

Choosing the right service

Exercise physiology and physiotherapy have complementary but distinct roles

Both services may use exercise, but the reason for your appointment and the type of support you need can be different. Our Moorebank team can help you choose.

Exercise Physiology

Exercise physiology focuses on individual exercise assessment, programming and progression. It can be useful for long-term condition management, functional capacity, disability-related goals and a structured return to activity.

Physiotherapy

Physiotherapy assesses and manages pain, injury and movement concerns. Care may include education, hands-on treatment and rehabilitation exercise depending on your needs.

Referrals and payment

Ways to access Exercise Physiology

Referral, approval and claiming rules depend on how your appointment is funded. Call before booking if you are unsure what documentation you need.

Private appointments

A referral is not required for a private appointment. Check your health fund for Exercise Physiology cover and ask the clinic whether your eligible claim can be processed through HICAPS.

Exercise Physiology FAQs

Do I need a referral to see an Exercise Physiologist?

A referral is not needed for a private appointment. Medicare requires an eligible GP referral. NDIS appointments depend on plan, funding and service arrangements. Workers compensation and CTP services also require a suitable approved practitioner and the relevant claim and insurer approvals. Call us before booking if you are unsure.

What should I bring to my first appointment?

Bring any relevant referrals, reports or medical information, plus your NDIS or claim details where applicable. Wear comfortable clothing and suitable footwear for movement. You can also bring a list of medications or advice from your treating team.

Can Exercise Physiology help with a chronic health condition?

Appropriately prescribed exercise may form part of managing many long-term conditions. Hadi will consider your health history, current capacity and any medical guidance before recommending a program. Exercise Physiology does not replace medical care.

Can I claim through private health insurance?

Some policies include Exercise Physiology extras cover. Eligibility and rebates vary by fund and policy. Contact your insurer before attending and ask the clinic whether your eligible claim can be processed through HICAPS.

Can I use NDIS funding for Exercise Physiology?

It may be available when the support is appropriate to your disability-related goals and included within your plan and funding arrangements. Contact the clinic with your plan details so the team can check the pathway with you.

Can Exercise Physiology and Physiotherapy work together?

Yes. When both services are appropriate, the practitioners can coordinate your rehabilitation and exercise plan with your consent. If you are not sure which service to book, call the Moorebank team first.
