The Allied Health Treatment Request replaced the older Allied Health Recovery Request from June 2024 and is mandatory for SIRA-approved allied health practitioners providing services in the NSW workers compensation scheme.

Before WorkCover physiotherapy
What does SIRA-approved mean?
For physiotherapy in the NSW workers compensation scheme, approval belongs to the individual practitioner. Simon De Biasi was listed in SIRA’s current register with approval number 25864 when this page was prepared.
Does SIRA approval guarantee my treatment is paid?
No. The practitioner must be approved, but claim liability, reasonably necessary treatment, prior-approval rules and the insurer’s decision still affect payment.
Do I need a referral?
Requirements vary with the claim and insurer. Contact the insurer and clinic. A current Certificate of Capacity and treating doctor information are often relevant even where a separate referral is not required.
What is an AHTR?
The Allied Health Treatment Request records assessment information, goals and proposed treatment and is submitted to the insurer when required. The insurer may approve, partially approve, request information or decline services.
Can the physiotherapist certify my work capacity?
Treating physiotherapists can issue certain Certificates of Capacity in limited circumstances under NSW scheme rules. Ask the practitioner and insurer what applies; this page does not promise certification.
